Explanation about 90% effort

Hi all,

I need some help to better understand the 90% effort.
What the rider is supposed to do with this settings? He is aggressive, but he also try to follow the escape, if there is one? And if so, does the leader follow him in any case?
Generally speaking, why should be usefull to have riders (helpers) set this way? What is the difference between a 90% setting and a 95% one?

A team mate with 95%, if he is in the same group as his leader, he will help him better than with 90%.

90% is a pace, so your rider will keep this pace during the part of the race, so if he is very strong he can be in the break away (without attacking), or he will try to do his best to follow the best group.

A team mate (if he can) will stay with his leader, if he is better than the leader, he will help his leader to be in a good group. So a team mate, can't be in a better group than his leader !

Just another question. If I set more than one helpers at 95%, is the help given to the leader better?
